A veteran character actor of stage, television, and film, Charles received an MFA in Acting from Brandeis University. Mr. Stransky then went on to work in Chicago becoming part of its burgeoning theatre movement in the 1970's before being called to Broadway.

His numerous credits reflect the various venues he has performed in, from regional theatre to Off-Broadway to Broadway to film and television.

On Broadway he played Lingk in the original production of Glengarry Glen Ross and in the Goodman Theatre’s original production and the National Tour. He was in The Lincoln Center Theater’s production of The Front Page at The Vivian Beaumont, playing Wilson, one of the reporters.

Off-Broadway Mr Stransky played entirely in French the role of La Poubelle in The Primary English Class and had previously played the same role at The St. Nicholas Theatre in Chicago. Besides playing roles in many Off-Broadway productions, he understudied and played several roles in Death Defying Acts and The Manhattan Theatre Club.

Recently, Mr. Stransky was seen in Chicago and The Midwest in The Steppenwolf's production of The Rembrandt playing Homer/Simon; James Tyrone in A Long Day's Journey Into Night at The Court Theatre; and King Charles in King Charles III at Cardinal Stage. He has played in regional theatres through-out the U.S. including: The Goodman Theatre; The Old Globe Theatre; The Northlight Theatre; The Capital Repertory Theatre; American Players Theatre; Riverside Theatre Co.; The Kitchen Theatre; Sacramento Stage; The Delaware Theatre Co.; Shadowland Theatre; The State Theatre in Austin, Texas; The Vermont Stage Co. to name a few.

On film, he can be seen in God Forgive Us; Caleb’s Door; Talking About Sex (heard as the Preacher); Uncle John and many other Indie films. Then there was the Policeman phase of his career in Ghost in the Machine; Nightmare In The Daylight;  Homicide, (and a couple of other David Mamet movies). Other films include: Dad, Stone Cold; Family Of Spies; Blind Faith et cetera.

Mr. Stransky’s numerous appearances on televison include Patriot (Amazon) Embeds (recurring guest star entire season, Chicago PD;  Murphy Brown; My Sister Sam; Newhart; All My Children (recurring); Law And Order (4 different roles in 4 different episodes) has a more complete list
